the knife isn't just a base lvl5 weapon as mentioned above, but i got it at lvl 15 which is still super early, and it carried me through the entire game which i find to be entirely broken/stupid design if it's intended.
I think the Empresses biggest issue is that she has no way to mitigate damage, and her overall DPS isn't that much better than any other character. Whether you found it or not is indicated by the blue flag in the stage select. That +3 has more than 18 atk. What i'm saying here is that shinobi (or at least his weapons) need a drastic rebalancing.
For comparison: the lvl 50 Kunai i got from the final boss hits a 900 with the downward dragon kick, the carving knife hits over 2000. I feel pretty weak.
It costs 2 bars to use the kick, i know about the one in the air, but on their website it is shown to work on the ground and even mentions something about the dammage type being dependent on the "contract" you choose. I have a question. thus there is still an incentive to get stronger ones, which is my gripe with the kunai.

I got a Carving Knife+3 While grinding exp in the mission Brother and sister, which i highly reccomend doing as it is really quick especially as shinobi, and it got +50% dmg to lvl10+ enemies and + 50% dmg to Primal enemies which is like 90% of the entire game. Oracle unlike most characters relies heavily on DP management as you can see how OP Extend could be but most of her attacks also rely on it, like her Auto Slash Form and Auto Guard mode. just got it it's a really good increase in dmg, thanks for telling us. 2.2.0!

While sure the dragon gun thing does a ton of damage if you don't have the right party comp it becomes situational. So I start lockon combo and try many different timing on pressing up an down but nothing.
