Enjoy free parking, a restaurant, and breakfast. Yellowstone lodging and eating is a nightmare. Other amenities include a lobby fireplace and gift shops/newsstands. We got up early and watched the sunrise...it was gorgeous! But where things fell apart was in the bathroom. Stay at this business-friendly hotel in Yellowstone National Park. Wow, I noticed a couple of spacious looking cabins, but there were few of them & lots of puny little run down pieces of junk cabins that we stayed in. Bathrooms include bathtubs or showers. Staying outside the park wouldn't be as much as a disaster too as staying here would be. The bathroom was brand new, with a new shower and fixtures. Go to this lodge to understand what really makes America great, What made America a great country is the free market allowing for competition which improves every offering over time thus improving experience for customers.
My wife got diarrhea on the fried chicken. Dinner is served cafeteria style which I actually quite enjoyed.
After a long day of hiking and driving, we made it to the lodge at 1 am and we were told by a very very unwelcoming staff member that we had to pay much more than what we thought we would be paying and her response for us saying it was too expensive for us and we could not afford it was " A lot of people are surprised too but we cannot do anything about it, but the good news is you will be paying the same price for all your nights". If you have such limitations book even earlier! It is acceptable rustic on the exterior, although better defined walking paths to the doors could be a good idea. We paid $131/night in June 2015 at the Lake Lodge Frontier cabins. Both windows opened to help air things out. The services of this lodge are guided by the communist like environment of having no competition and hence are of course highly incompetent but they have a capitalist mindset of maximizing profits when pricing their rooms. The room also came with a small table, which was a welcome feature after five days in an Old Faithful Inn room that was not so appointed. I would come back, but don’t expect a Ritz Carlton here! That's kind of crazy in today's world.
Fortunately one of us had a camper and we went back there and warmed up soup. Pelican Creek Nature Trail Trailhead and Storm Point Trail are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Hayden Valley and Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I would have liked to have researched options for the following day or even further out, but you can't hardly find a connection in the entire park. Just to throw in the extras of how incompetent the staff at this lodge is despite their celestial pricing.We were not greeted or even afforded a smile at by any of the staff in our visit.I called housekeeping and it went straight to voicemail. Cute bear soap. Not a problem but it was so jammed with furniture it would be nearly impossible for a wheel chair to navigate the room. If they are going to change price from what was agreed upon, they should put it in big block letters or maybe have a hand come out from the screen and slap you for being a fool by trying to stay here. Has nice espresso machine in room. I do recommend the bar at the Lodge, but don't go for the cafeteria - it seems kind of like what I imagine prison or hospital food to be. The baseboards are chewed up and the walls are poorly cut sheets of that paneling they use on mobile homes. This lodge is what a business will be like when there is no competition and a business is free to treat its customers like objects that can be juiced for profits. The location is very convenient to the Lake, the Lodge, and the Hotel (all within walking distance). I got the cheap lodge but even though it should be at least relaxing to stay at. Did pick up some scones at the deli and they were fantastic although the young man behind the counter was totally unenthused. Check any national, local, and health advisories for this destination before you book. Main yellow hotel ( not where you check in for rooms) bar was absolutely lovely with huge views and bison grazing and comfie chairs. Your trust is our top concern, so businesses can't pay to alter or remove their reviews. Entering my cabin, I was struck by an aroma of must and dank, but the actual living space was mostly in order. These fees are used for the general purposes of AARP. You could get wi-fi, but you had to pay for it...and it was only available in the main building where the front desk was.The view was amazing! Note that there was no GSM (AT&T, etc...) reception in this area.
The cabin was nice and exceeded my expectations. Our cabin is very nice, clean, beautiful decor and great wall paint. Please check you have entered your email address correctly before continuing. We called often to see if something opened up and it never did. The lodge at Grand Canyon in Yellowstone seemed much better managed with great food options too and the Signal Mountain Lodge in GTNP is an absolute gold star winner! It's still pricey, but hey! I spent four nights in a "pioneer" cabin in September 2013. I didn't want a campground and I didn't want a fancy hotel (not that there are any). They also had the information for my reservation the following night at Grant Village Lodge. Instead, try the deli in the Lake Hotel or the diner in the Fishing Bridge General Store, only a mile away.
