While his performance was terrific, this slow moving film leaves a lot to be desired.

Redemption [is] at once so funny and so profoundly sad. He's a product of our violent world, who's trying to do the right thing and thereby buy back his soul.The film doesn't pull back from the contradictions of his attempt to find inner peace through extreme violence.

And it gives us many memorable vignettes along the way.

An inane and rote thriller, Redemption is mindless tripe.

Until then, it seems he's doomed to be stuck in the rut he's dug for himself. Statham pretends to be friends with the man who owns the apartment and the neighbors never question it.
