The events of the last few weeks offer a sad and stark reminder of how much more work we need to do to achieve true social equality for all our people. Like many of you, I’ve needed some time and space to reflect on these events, both in terms of their meaning, and their effect. Combined with the impact of the pandemic and ensuing economic downturn, I have found many of my basic assumptions about health, economic security and justice called into question.
