The dodge mechanic has been shrunk to an appropriate size where it's useful in situations that make sense, but much more often blocking and deflecting are the better strategy. It wasn't the mechanics clicking or anything like that, but the thrill of conquering something that seemed insurmountable. The enemies aren't even that hard. Prothestic tools may be useful but only if you're able to use them properly and you'll have farm spirit emblems for them. Man, I parry spammed that bitch in seconds. Summons make the game extremely easy, and you can always grind for souls and end up with a character with a full suit of Havel's that can still fast roll and 40 in every stat. Dodging, whilst harder in Sekiro, is still viable in a lot of bosses. If you like this sort of frustrating trial and error gameplay then you’ll really like it. I died many times to the bell gargoyles, until I got the Drake Sword, I fought the bosses the same way and beat the bosses my first try. I feel like the Soulsborne games are action RPGs. If you're a dark souls purest and play with no summons and limit your max level I'd argue dark souls. That's very well put and I totally agree with you. It seems like the difficulty didn't come from the complexity of the mechanics, but the punishment for blundering. The infinite stamina, stealth, and resurrection mechanics can make Sekiro easier. And the good thing is, there are no specific stats that you can level up so you hop from on strategy to the next without any hastle. Meaning that beating a boss relies solely upon understanding of the mechanics and not the patience to farm or the insight to go to easier areas first. Sekiro has the most fun, addicting combat I’ve ever played. Sekiro is much harder and requires more rhythm to combat the enemies, while dark souls 3 still has quite an online presence. And you're right. I struggled killing abyss watchers on my pyro, but on my thief? I don't hate difficult games, I hate games that punish me for experimenting and learning the game's mechanics. I find Dark Souls to be way more methodical due to the combat being so basic in comparison. The souls games make it a point to be aware of your surroundings and make sure youre not getting caught off guard, just like sekiro does with its stealth and metodically getting rid of enemies. I can't speak on the behalf of DS 2 but I know mage builds in DS3 are pathetic due to the fact that mates were OP in the past two games. Just to set the scene I've completed Dark Souls 3 four times, I've completed Bloodborne and I've tried to play Dark Souls Remastered. I feel like in Sekiro there is more variety and options. Unlike the RPG aspects of the Dark Souls series, there's no real way around having to master Sekiro's combat mechanics to proceed. If enemy is using jump attack you can just parry him or use dodge. How similar is BB to DS? I always felt like the Soulsborne games weren't hard, but just tedious. DS players went to play sekiro thinking that they know FS games by now & were taken by surprise. It depends how you play tbh. Some of my favourite games are RPGs. Personally I prefer the story and mood that Bloodborne brings to the table as well as the variety in trick weapons for replayability, but I cannot argue that Sekiro is the most polished FROM game I’ve ever played. Not trying to discourage you, just giving my opinion. They get so much praise and attention because they scratch an itch most RPGs don’t.

I would say sekiro improved on things in which DS was not good, while introducing new things on their own. Sekiro is harder because you can't crutch co-op. I don’t need to watch the video to know that yes. Isnt harder hmmmm smough would like a word on that one or soul level 1 dancer but legit playing soulsborne and sekiro i cant help but crank the difficulty to the hardest one on every other game now. It is quickly becoming one of my favourite games of all time as is by far the best FromSoft game. This is what made the franchise my favorite in gaming. It's difficulty is very sly and weasely (if that makes sense). I recently ran thru ds2 scholar again twice one with an axe and the other with a sorcerer... two very different experiences, and being the first time I played scholar as opposed to vanilla, I found it very jarring how difficult sorcerer had become once I reached iron keep and keep getting slammed by the NPC invaders, despite having a +7 staff, 6 soul spears and 40 INT. But from an objective stand point I'd say dark souls is easier. Sword Saint is absolutely the hardest boss of any FS game on a first playthough tho. "It feels like my fault when I died" is in souls, but moreso in sekiro, it's a pretty loaded phrase, alluding to increased control over how the combat progresses, and enemy attacks being designed for direct reception, not flung about indiscriminately. Question here is, would I likey enjoy Bloodborne because I have enjoyed Sekiro? The most you will have to do is buy prosthetic upgrades, you'll have most of them by your second play through. I disagree a little. With this is mind, I can safely say Sekiro is easier than Dark Souls. Then it becomes a toss up between 1 with better world building and lore and 3 with better visuals, physics, and an overall faster pace. It's extremely finely-tuned, but there is still enough variation to allow people to customize their play style as well. It just sounds like you’re not that big into RPGs. I entirely agree and couldn't have said it better. I feel like the designers knew that there combat mechanics and bosses were one note and so put a lot of bullshit between you and the boss in order to artificially increase the perceived difficulty. As for the game "punishing" you for what you feel is stupid stuff, kind of a hard disagree. Sure you can do a dagger build in DS but you'll be severely handicapping yourself.
